Arrakis's story contains neglect, domestic violence, elitism, classism, genocide, violence, and death, sensory deprivation and cultural homophobia. Arrakis doesn't to talk about himself that much, even with those he is close to so it might not show up that much. I'll be sure to use content warnings if it does.

If you would like to opt out of any of these, or Arrakis in general let me know. Comments are screened.

Arrakis Faylare

Arrakis is one of eight people that have been blessed with magic by a nameless goddess, who was created by humanity's imagination and desire for there to be something after death. Each mage carries a piece of that original wish inside their magic. As the air mage, Arrakis's wind magic holds the desire for the afterlife to be a better place, and the promise of better days.

→ Skills and Abilities

Mage

Magic is complicated in his world. It comes from a different realm and as such, it can’t exist in the real world without being tethered to a human otherwise it would be catastrophic. When mages are chosen, they slowly are transformed into a being of pure magic energy wrapped around an echo of their human self. This allows the magic to work past the limitations of the human body while also being contained. Mages are greatly enhanced by their magic and stand above normal humans.

Their magic is a piece of the nameless goddess's magic, which was created from humanity's imagination and desire for something after death so it's incredibly powerful. It can't fully manifest in this world though so it needs a human soul to tether it into this world. That's where mages come in. (It's also why mage's magic feels like a mirage for those who can see or sense it. It doesn't have a physical form in this world until the mage shapes his magic into their element. They technically have a near endless supply of magic but they can only access a part of it and it has to work within the limitations of their human vessel. (Think Avatar the Last Airbender's bending) Mage's aren't entirely human anymore though so the more their magic resonates with their emotions and they lean into their magic side they can push a bit further past those limits. However if their human vessel dies, so do they can't push so far that the strain would destroy their human body.

Due to their transformation, mages no longer feel human. They are similar to corpses that are kept alive by magic but their magic gives the illusion that they are still human. All of magic is fueled by imagination and mages can use their memories of being human to feel like one again, although it doesn't feel quite real, their senses feel more like looking back at the memory their imagination recreated.

Being of Magical energy

His magic side feels like an unnatural, shapeless mass of magical energy. It doesn't belong in the world and it doesn't have a form until Arrakis shapes the magic into energy. To people who can see magic, this invisible magic looks like a faint, otherworldly energy that feels like an illusion. It's not completely grounded in the real world. It feels like an idea instead of something real until Arrakis's magic gives it a physical form. Arrakis can see and hear when he resonates with his magic side but it feels like an afterthought, like when you see or hear something out of the corner of your eye. This gives his magic a weightless, ghost like feeling. When Arrakis gives his magic a physical form however, his blurred senses do become a bit stronger.

Arrakis's soul naturally leans towards his magic and it takes a conscious effort to switch back to his human memories. Also, when Arrakis's soul resonates with his magic side, the magical energy is strongest around his eyes and they glow. Arrakis can use his magic without going full mage mode, but extreme emotions are more likely to make him resonate with his magical side. Think of it as tug of war with his consciousness with a ethereal pull towards his magic.

Arrakis’s magic feeds on the world’s residual magical energy, just like how humans breathe air. Using magic drains his magic reserves and temporarily weakens his magical core, but building up too much magic can damage his human body. It’s a delicate balance and the strength of his magic is directly tied to how strong his magical energy is.

Minor Healing

Mages cannot survive without their human vessel and his magic keeps his human body alive and the magic boosts their body with magical energy. Mages don’t get sick, they have a higher tolerance for alcohol and drugs, and they heal faster than normal humans. They can still get injured, but it takes less time to recover. An injury that takes a week or more to recover would only take them a few days. However if a mage’s magic reserves are low, then there is no extra energy to heal and the boost in healing doesn’t work.

Magical defense mechanism

If his magic gets too low or his magic has to adjust due to outside magical influences, Arrakis’s magical form will take over, shapeshifting him into a small animal form. It’s a defense mechanism that allows the magic to focus all its energy on magic recovery. Arrakis turns into a white gryphon with blue eyes.

Wind magic

Mages use imagination to give the pure magic they are made up of a physical shape. Each mage controls a different element. Arrakis can shape his magic into wind. He can only manipulate his magic but he can make it seem like he can control normal wind as well by influencing the wind's current with his own wind.

All mages have a mystical power that is tied to their piece of the original wish as well. For air mages they can mix their wind with music to create a magical soothing aura that promises that things will be better and eases one's pain. Arrakis has taken the concept of mixing sound with wind even further and he can manipulate sound by weaving it into his wind so only those who touch his wind can hear it. It's a useful trick for silencing your footsteps, and in Arrakis's case, keeping his music secret.

Healing song

All mages have a mystical ability that ties into their piece of the original wish that created magic. As the air mage, Arrakis's wind magic holds the desire for the afterlife to be a better place, and the promise of better days. He can weave music and the hope of better days into his wind to create a magically soothing song that eases one's soul.

→ History

World History

Arrakis's story takes place in a version of Earth which loosely follows history but with a magical twist. Human's imagination and fear of the afterlife created a magical entity. The nameless goddess that was born from that loneliness wanted to be a part of the world that created her so she tore a hole in her dimension and gave humanity a piece of her magic. Over time, people grew to fear magic and its potential to destroy the world if it escaped the other dimension completely. Around the Victorian era, an order dedicated to protecting mankind found an ancient portal and banished the current mages and their supporters to Althiya, a desert world with aimlessly floating islands in a sea of sand. The mages magic awakened hidden crystals that allowed them to stabilize the islands and stop them from wandering.

At first, everyone worked together to stabilize Althiya but the other exiles slowly grew to resent the mages for their banishment and they worked with the locals to imprison the mages, in an attempt to control the disastrous magic that was slowly eating away at their world. When a mage died, a witch hunt was conducted to find the next mage and lock them up. This dark chapter of Althiyan history lasted for many years until the mages finally revolted and slaughtered everyone that tried to oppose them. They created a bloody tyranny and formed the noble houses to rule over the powerless people that imprisoned them. After a unexpected truce, everyone agreed to bury this dark chapter of Althiya’s history. However, there is still a strong sense of resentment towards the commoners among the nobles and fear of crossing the nobles for the common people, it’s just wrapped in layers of arrogance (the nobles believing they are better suited to rule than the weak common people), and a fear of change destroying what they have built for the common people.

Fast-forward to the modern day and no one knows the dark truth about the mages or their bloody history. Althiya is now a mix of the original nomadic culture and an oppressive steampunk-like ruling noble class who are the descendants of the first mages, with seven mages at the top who are chosen by the nameless goddess as divine protectors.

Character History

Arrakis was the unwanted sixth son of the noble Faylare house. Instead of a daughter who could be used for a political marriage, Arrakis would only ever inherit his family name so he was mostly rejected by his family. The only times they acknowledged him was during social events where he was expected to pretend that they were a happy family, or when they wanted him to do something shady that his brothers couldn't risk getting their hands dirty with. Desperate for his family's love Arrakis did whatever his family asked of him, including the occasional murder in a duel so it would seem like an accident.

Due to his precarious place in his family, Arrakis sympathized with the common people more than most nobles and he enjoyed sneaking into the city, especially during festivals. He never spoke up against the unfair divide between the two classes though for fear that it would give his family an excuse to finally get rid of him. This is one of Arrakis's biggest regrets and why he tends to hide that he was a noble.

Things started to get better when he discovered his talent for music, but he couldn’t shake the fear that the attention and affection he received was only because of his singing, not him, and as soon as he messed up, he would go back to being unwanted. Because of this, Arrakis was terribly arrogant when it came to his musical talent and he used his skills at reading people to meld his personality to what others wanted. He still desperately wanted people to like him for who he really was, not his mask, so he kept some aspects of himself unchanged like his side braid, his cheerful personality and his love of flying. This loneliness was made a hundred times worse when his friend prophesized his death. Living with the knowledge that he was going to die made him feel even more like an outcast and he was terrified of being forgotten so he buried his loneliness and resentment and became obsessed with helping his friends so he would leave something of himself behind through them.

When he was eighteen he was chosen by the nameless goddess to be the next air mage, along and six others mages who took up the role of divine guardians. He was the last mage to master his magic. He struggled with understanding wind when he couldn't see it. Terrified he would lose his place by his friends' side, he trained tirelessly until he discovered a clever way around his magic block. He still can't completely visualize wind but instead he used his imagination to visualize a dragon made of wind instead, and his skill now rivals that of other mages. When it comes to his connection to his element, he's a natural.

Soon afterward, their world was destroyed and the the mages were forced to flee through an ancient portal and end up stranded in a small town on modern-day earth. They met Skylar, a seemingly normal human who recognized them from a dream she had the night before. They didn't know it yet but she's secret eighth mage that opened the portal although she has no idea how she did it. Lost in a world they don't understand and curious about the connection they have with Skylar they accepted her help and stayed with her. Death is always celebrated with new life on Althiya and as a tribute to their fallen home, the mages chose to start a new life in this world. They changed their birthdays to the day they arrived on Earth, August 8, and started over at age 20, which is why their real ages don't quite match up to their actual age.

With the help of Skylar and Altair, who as a commoner had to fend for himself before becoming a mage, Arrakis and the other sheltered nobles slowly learned to adapt to their less privileged lives. The mysteries of their world were quickly forgotten, since there was no one to give them answers, and they slowly accepted their new lives on Earth. Knowing he was going to die on this new world, Arrakis embraced everything Earth had to offer. His happiness while exploring his new world was tainted by the realization that he wouldn't be a part of their new future here for long but he still did his best to enjoy what time he had left.

Unfortunately he knew it couldn't last and they were tracked down and hunted by the remnants of the ancient order that exiled the mages. When they captured a member of the order they learned the hidden truth about their magic, that their magic is slowly damaging the world around them and they will potentially destroy the world someday just by existing, which was why the last star mage, Sirius's father, destroyed Althiya. He was trying to break the cycle of mages by making sure no one was left alive to become the next mage. By escaping that night, Arrakis and his friends unknowingly ruined that plan and Althiya was sacrificed in vain. Knowing that they were the reason Althiya was destroyed, even if only indirectly, left all the mages devastated and the mages are now forced to live with the eternal dilemma of whether they have the right to exist when their existence is catastrophic to the world around them.

Arrakis agreed with Sirius that they should let the soldier they captured go to show that they weren't the monsters the Order thought they were. Their mercy backfired and Altair was captured. Just like Sheliak predicted, Arrakis wasn't able to escape his death and he was shot while protecting Sheliak during the rescue. Realizing that he was going to die anyway, he trapped the enemy in the room with him so the rest of his friends could escape.

→ Personality

Empathetic – Arrakis has always cared about others, a lot of times more than himself, since he feels their pain like his own and wants to keep others from suffering, even at his own expense. He will put himself in harm’s way to keep others from being hurt and he is an incredibly good listener for those that need someone to talk to.

Lonely – Arrakis felt like an outcast in his own home and his loneliness was made a hundred times worse when his friend prophesized his death. Living with the knowledge that he was going to die make him feel even more like an outcast and he is terrified of being forgotten.

Selfish – Because of his ability to shift his personality to other people’s whims, he focuses on more desirable traits that will make people like him more. Kindness comes easy for him given his empathic nature but sometimes it feels like he is kind just for his selfish desire to be liked instead of because it’s the right this to do.

Insecure – Arrakis is constantly second guessing himself, his kindness, his identity, everything. He wants to be a good person, but is that only so other will like him more? If he can put on so many different masks, who is the real him? Is the cheerful and free personality he clings to as his just the kind of person he thought he would like to be?

Guilt Ridden - The destruction of his home devastated Arrakis. The mages are supposed to protect everyone. Not only did he fail, but he was the reason everyone was killed and he's haunted by this. He's desperate to save everyone this time and he will throw himself into danger will little concern for his own well being.

Cheerful – Arrakis escapes all his fears and insecurities with a friendly and cheerful attitude. He does not want to dwell on dark thoughts and honestly believes that happiness can make any situation better and he would rather be happy and hyper, and even annoying, if it means he doesn’t have to be left alone with his thoughts.

BRACKETS/PROSE: small preference for brackets but I'm fine with either, whichever is easier for you
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS TO AVOID: as longs as you give me a heads up with content warnings so I know what I'm getting into I'm ok with most things, please be extra careful with parasites, child harm and suicide though.

IN CHARACTER

NAME (TO CENSOR): Arrakis Faylare
CANON: Original
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: yes
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: yes
RELATIONSHIPS: yes, Arrakis is pansexual so I'm open to shipping with anyone! (I'm not comfortable with writing smut yet but I'm open to anything up to that point)
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: Arrakis's mind is complicated. As a mage, his magic was tied to his soul and resonated with his emotions. He's been reverted back to his human self but there are quiet echoes of his past as a mage in how he thinks. His emotions feel shallow compared to when they were followed by a rush of magical energy around him. He feels trapped in his body and his emotions are followed by a sharp pain of sadness and emptiness. He's more attuned to his emotions than his thoughts and tends to try to hold onto them longer in a attempt to feel more like he used to. There's also a lot of resentment and bitterness that he doesn't voice out loud.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: Arrakis is a mage, a magical being that is tied to his human soul and who can shape magic into a specific element using the power of imagination. Arrakis is an air mage so he can shape his magic into wind. He had trouble visualizing wind because it's invisible so he shapes his wind into the form of a dragon instead. (see Info for more details. Mages are complicated orz)
MEDICAL INFORMATION: (cw: death, mention of domestic violence)

He's a normal, healthy human again. He has several bullet hole scars on his arms, side and chest, the most notable being the one next to his heart that eventually killed him. His older scars had all been healed by his magic when he was a mage so his body doesn't show any of the damage he sustained over the years of falling and being beaten by his brothers.

When he has his magic his human body is dead. It's maintained by his magic and crafted from his memories of when he was still human to create the illusion he's alive. His heartbeat is faint and feels difficult to hold onto, kind of like a mirage, and his body is cold. However he can strengthen the illusion to feel more alive if he focuses on his human memories, in which case he can create the illusion of a stronger heartbeat and his touch feels warmer. If he's unconscious though he will go back to his deathly state, which can lead to some awkward misunderstandings.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS CHARACTER: neglect, domestic violence, elitism, classism, genocide, violence, death, sensory deprivation and cultural homophobia

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: Always! I'm a snail and I never mind late tags
THREADHOPPING: please ask
FOURTHWALLING: not sure how that would work with an OC but you have an idea feel free to ask!
NOT INTERESTED IN: sexual assault/rape

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: 6 ft, lean, built for flexibility and acrobatics more than strength. He has short blond hair with a small braid on his right side. His eyes are blue green (when he has his magic his eyes look like there is a piece of wind trapped inside them and his eyes glow with a light blue light that resonates with his emotions)
AURAL: Arrakis has a bright and chipper voice. He has an incredible singing voice if you are lucky enough to catch him sing. His singing is a closely guarded secret though so it's rare to hear it, unless you see him secretly perform in disguise as "Draco".
OLFACTORY: windswept and sand? I haven't really thought about his scent
DEMEANOUR: Arrakis is a friendly ball of sunshine with a love for life. Every now and then you might see a hint of something else behind his radiant smile but he's very guarded with his true feelings. He also has a gift of shifting his personality to suit who he's with so it's difficult to tell who is the real him and not one of his many masks.

Characters Chosen Reality:

Arrakis’s chosen reality is a piece of his destroyed world Althiya from the past. The sky is blue and gold, a mix of the golden sands of Althiya and blue sky the mages from Earth longed for. The piece of reality he brought with him isn’t big enough to hold the entire arabesque Faylare castle and the edge of the unfinished building crumbles into the same golden sand that carpets the ground. The piece of the castle that’s intact centers around the courtyard, which lead to a veil of rose like vines. Behind the roses is Sheliak and Arrakis’s sanctuary, a beautiful garden with a large pool and a floor of golden sand that glitters faintly like gold. A wall of trees and vines cut the garden off from the rest of the world.

Game Questions

The following questions are to give mods insight on how you plan to roleplay your character, and we will also designate to them their constellation based on this app.

What is your character's in-canon ambition?

Arrakis’s main ambition is to live up to his sacred role as a mage and protect others at all costs. He knows now that mages being the sacred protectors of his world was just a clever lie the nameless goddess created for the mages to use their magic more and weaken the barrier between the real world and the magical dimension the goddess was trapped in, however he still clings to this calling. It feels like the only way he can atone for the destruction of his world Althiya and deep down he doesn’t want to accept that he’s a monster.

A quieter ambition that is constantly sabotaged by his guilt is Arrakis’s desire to live and be happy despite what he is. Whether or not he has the right to live is an eternal dilemma for him so it’s more difficult for Arrakis to acknowledge this quieter ambition.

[CRAU ONLY] Concerning their ambitions, has your character gone through change in their canon or CRAU? If so, what drove them to change?

Thanks to his time in Labyrinthum Arrakis has had a taste of happiness with friends and a lover how accepted him for what he is so it’s harder for Arrakis to silence his desire to live and be happy. He hesitantly lets himself be more selfish, although the lives of others still always come first.

Who or what is your character's greatest weakness? Something - anything, that serves as their Achilles' heel.

Arrakis’s greatest weakness is his fear of rejection. There is very little he won’t do to be loved. The first person he killed was a murder staged as a dueling accident in order to satisfy his family and he took on many other shady and nefarious jobs over the years to try to win their approval. He shifts his personality to suit others to the point where he has deep identity issues and can’t tell what’s genuinely him and not one of the many masks he wears.

He’s convinced that his real self is ugly so it’s very difficult for him to show his true self. He’s also very insecure and he has a malicious and cruel streak when he’s close to someone. He will purposely try to push them away in order to prove to himself that they won’t leave him, no matter how terrible he is.

If your character encounters a problem, how do they handle it?

Arrakis likes it when people underestimate him so he deceptively impulsive. He tends to think on his feet but he’s also a skilled strategist and under his impulsivity he’s thinking several moves ahead, especially if there is the possibility of a trap. If a problem requires a more careful approach, he can be incredibly patient, like his careful neutrality regarding Vaeros in Labyrinthum while he secretly investigated the truth. He prefers to go with the flow however so there are many times he gets himself into trouble by not thinking ahead. He tends to get more serious the more dangerous the problem is. However his sense of danger is skewed thanks to his foreseen death so his idea of a low risk adventure that doesn't require caution doesn't always line up with others, like how he tried to talk to the minotaurs instead of attacking them in Labyrinthum.

The one exception is if other people are in danger. Due to his guilt as a mage he will risk everything and head straight into the fray to protect others, regardless of what it costs him.

What is the deepest truth your character refuses to acknowledge? What lingers in their unconscious self? Do they fear it, accept it, or avoid it? Would it shatter everything they believe in if it unravels or is unveiled??

That his family never loving him was not his fault and he’s not ugly underneath his masks. This belief has shaped his entire personality and while he does slowly reveal his true self to those he’s closest to over time, it’s not without fear and the constant need to test how real that bond is with petty and sometimes downright malicious pranks. He wants to believe people when they tell him he’s not an ugly monster but his fear of rejection is deeper and it’s a constant struggle.

His feelings for his family are also complicated. He has always been desperate for their love and due to him being partly responsible for the destruction of his world Althiya and the fall of his house, Arrakis feels like he can’t dismiss his family, no matter how cruel they were to him. He would rather hold onto the lie that he’s the reason his family never loved him, rather than accept that he did nothing wrong.

The truth would shatter everything they believe in, and not in a good way at first. The years of resentment and bitterness he has buried would boil over, and he would feel a desperate need to prove it’s true so his habit of pushing people away would get worse. Over time and if he didn’t run everyone away with his cruel streak, it would be good for him and allow him to truly be happy. It would be a tough ride getting there though because Arrakis wouldn’t want to accept it.

If your character finished their Journey, do you feel that they would be satisfied at the end of it?

Arrakis’s best friend and secret lover foresaw his early death and he lived with knowledge for years. Any happiness he found felt fleeting and he distanced himself, focusing on his friends around him and their happiness instead of his own which he would never reach. As long as his friends remembered him when he was gone he believed he would satisfied. When his death finally came he regretted living like that and wished he could spend more time with the people he loved.

He got a second chance at life in Labyrinthum where he got to live life the way he wanted, with a future and happiness that was within his reach. He would still regret that he was never able to have that life with his friends back on Earth but it’s still more than he ever thought he would have, so he should be satisfied right? Yet he wouldn’t be able to help longing for more.

ONLY ANSWER ONE of the Four, there are two groups[ROLEPLAY]: Which question would your character WANT to answer, and then have them answer it.

4. If your world or Universe was already dead, and there was no one else left to protect other than yourself. Would you feel it is worth protecting? Why or why not?

[Arrakis’s glowing eyes instantly burned brighter as his magic resonated with the sadness in his eyes. He answered without hesitation.]

Yes. We made a promise to always remember Althiya. Even if I was the last one left...

[His eyes narrowed slightly at the thought. He always knew he would leave first so the thought of him somehow outliving everyone else was hard to grasp. It reminded him of everyone who left in Labyrinthum and he quickly pushed his loneliness aside. Being stranded on another world away from everyone again was bad enough.]

I’ll keep that promise. Those precious memories will always be worth protecting.

[His eyes sharply flickered with his hidden guilt. It was the least he could do.]

ONLY ANSWER ONE of the Four[ROLEPLAY]: Which question would your character WANT to answer, and then have them answer it.

1. Do you care about Power, what kind of power and how? Is it powerful to rule, or is it powerful to be stronger?

Again, please just pick one question that feels most representative of your character and have them answer their perspective. Each answer should be a small self-roleplay. We are looking for inner monologue; present this as if they asked themselves this question.

[Arrakis’s eyes flickered brighter. He hid his conflicted feelings about his magic behind a small hum as he absentmindedly shaped his magic into a small dragon made of wind that coiled around his arm.]

Yes, I do, not because I want to stand above everyone else, but I don’t want to be stronger so I can protect everyone.

[He spoke with determination, despite the slight flickering in his glowing eyes. Power came at a price. Too many lives had been sacrificed because of his magic so he will spend his life protecting others to atone for the lives he trampled over in order to survive.]

What aspect of the group interests you the most for your character?

Everything! The worldbuilding, the keys and character’s realities, the dungeons, the story, it all sounds incredible and I love how much creative freedom is woven into the game!

CRAU

Please explain your character's CRAU journey in one short paragraph.

Arrakis was hesitant to open up to people at first. He was hunted and killed before he showed up in Somnius so he hid his true nature behind a friendly smile like he always did. However over time the feelings he planned to take to his grave and others' kindness slowly broke down his walls. He had another chance at life here and he cautiously pursued his own happiness for once instead of running away from what he wanted. The night he got engaged to Night Sky was the happiest night of his life.

He retreated back into his shell a bit when she disappeared, believing that it was the world’s way of reminding him that he didn’t deserve to be happy. Having a taste of happiness made him greedy though and he selfishly pushed against his guilt and stubbornly held onto the precious people he still had. Night Sky and several others have accepted him for what he is so the masks he hides behind are more cracked, allowing hints of his more resentful side and his magical nature to be seen.

CRAU Explanation:
Character Appearance: Arrakis is 6ft with a slim build, pale skin with a slight tan, and short blonde hair with a small braid on the right side. His eyes are light blue. When he regains his magic, the blue in his eyes fades to a pale misty blue, almost white and it looks like a piece of wind is trapped inside his eyes. When his emotions resonate with his magic, when he’s feeling strong emotions or using a lot of magic, his eyes glow with a pale blue light.
Powers and Abilities:
• Mage – a being of pure magic tied to a human soul

• Allows them to tether magic into the real world and use magic

• Mages can shift their human consciousness between the invisible magic aura around them and their human body. The magic side dampens their human senses so they have a higher tolerance to pain when they are connected to their magic side. And they are more attuned to other magic, giving them a slight magic sense.
• Their magic feeds of the residual magic around them, not the direct magical source. (Think of it as the breath you took that is now in the air, instead of directly stealing your breath. Mage’s magic does not directly harm those who have magic. They just steal the energy it gives off) That energy is the fuel for their magic.

• Enhanced healing – mages heal a bit faster than normal humans and have a higher tolerance for sickness and drugs. For example, mages don’t get sick and an injury that normally takes a week to recover from would only take a few days. The enhanced healing doesn’t work if the mage’s magic reserves are low

• Magic defense mechanism – turns him into a small, housecat sized gryphon when his magic reserves are too low. His human consciousness goes into a deep sleep, leaving an animal with his personality.

• Air magic – Arrakis can shape his magical energy into wind. He can not affect the wind around him, only the wind he creates. He must work with the limitations of the human body so he can’t make anything too big. For example, he could create a powerful gust of wind that he can ride but not a tornado. He can also create a calming wind when he combines his wind with sound.

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most?
Sheliak, Arrakis’s best friend and secret lover. Arrakis was drawn by the fact that they both hide behind a mask and they both became each other’s secret escape. He’s the only one Arrakis felt safe showing his lonely and selfish side to without worrying that he would reject him. Sheliak was also the one who prophesied his death when they were eighteen so he’s the only one who Arrakis could go to for comfort.

2. What are they most afraid of? Being rejected for who he is and being left alone. He was the unwanted sixth son and that loneliness has shaped his character. It’s why he hides behind a mask of what others would like instead of showing his true self, which he is convinced is ugly. After his death, he is also terrified of dying. Death encompasses all of his fears into one inescapable, lonely void.

3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically?
Arrakis’s biggest weakness is his self-doubt. He hides his true self behind a mask of what he thinks everyone wants him to be instead of his true side, which he’s convinced is ugly. He’s constantly second guessing his identity because of this, and he has a hard time recognizing what parts of himself are truly him and not the mask he has created. The best example of this is his kindness. Is he truly kind or is he only kind so people will like him? Underneath his mask of sunshine, he is very insecure and he’s scared of everyone rejecting him if he becomes a burden so he hides his troubles and pretends to be fine. Physically he’s not very strong. He used the momentum from his wind for the power behind his attacks. He’s more acrobatic, although his body can take a beating from the many falls he’s had over the years. Due to him knowing about his death for years ahead of time, Arrakis has a very skewed sense of danger. It’s hard to worried about a few broken bones when death looms over your shoulder all the time.

4. What would make them happiest? Being surrounded by people that love him for who he truly is, not just the mask he hides behind, and to be able to express his music without being afraid of being trapped inside a cage of false love just for his talent again.

5. What’s their type for a lover? The lonely side of Arrakis would say anyone since all he wants is to be loved. If he had to put more thought into it, then he would say someone who is patient. Someone who loves all of him, even when he pulls mean and sometimes malicious pranks in order to test their love and to convince himself that they won’t leave him. Someone with a hidden side that only he gets to see, and they must like music. Someone he can share his adventures with and who he can shower with love and affection to repay them for choosing him.
