[ One morning, as your character steps out of their home, they are greeted by an owl messenger, bearing a letter. The letter tells them that they have been selected to participate in a gift exchange, and they are to deliver a gift to Red Son by the end of the month. The letter says nothing more, and once the letter is read, the owl will fly away. ]
[With very little care and deliberation, dropped for Arrakis to find is an unusual gift with a crumpled note stuffed inside, which is marked with a smiley face and a single word: present.
...and to make up for this hideous turn of fate, for you.]
[Arrakis nights have always been plagued with nightmares ever since his home was destroyed so he loves the kind gift. He will be sure to tell Jack the next time he sees him. Maybe he should try to cook something for him! It probably won't end in a disaster, hopefully.]
[He'll find a small gift waiting for him - a Twi'lek game, played with various diamond-shaped tiles, which she's carved herself. She's included instructions and a simple note: "you teach me your game, I'll teach you mine. Thank you, and may you have a wonderful holiday."]
[On Christmas Day, Arrakis will find outside his room a simple but delicate painting of a city not too different in style from his, at least at first glance. With the painting is a card inside a wax-sealed envelope with Arrakis' name scribed in elegant cursive on the front, in both Roman and Persian (أراكيس) alphabet. The card's message reads:]
Arrakis,
I never thanked you properly for showing me your world... so in return, I wanted to show you mine. I miss Agrabah every day I'm here, but it's a comfort to know that there are worlds like it out there with people as kind as you.
Let's talk soon at your favourite sit-down place. Jasmine
P.S. Thank you so much for the chocolates - I never knew you could flavour them with spice and coffee! These make me so happy.
((OOC: She did NOT use the paintbrush from the wizard tower, so thankfully the Agrabah painting doesn't sound or smell funny.))
[Arrakis loves the painting, and his name looked so beautiful written in her language. He shared the comfort Jasmine found in learning there were similar worlds to his out there, especially when his home was gone and he was quick to reply.]
Jasmine,
I'm glad you liked the chocolates! Mixing spice with sweets was a tradition back home. The coffee was a personal choice. I'm glad they came out well! I would love to talk with you more. Let's meet at the Stone Dragon sometime.
[Delivered quite kindly by the mail mice to Arrakis' home is a bag of homemade potpourri that smells like vanilla and bread. There's a little handmade Christmas Pixie. There are some Christmas cookies (some are a little misshapen but it's clear they were made with care).
Lastly, there is a red rose pocket pin. It won't be alive for too long but it's pretty while it lasts.
Attached is a card inside is delicate handwriting:]
MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. ARRAKIS! I made the cookies myself with some help! I hope you wear the rose pin! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Again, Merry Christmas!
( A few days after her gift was delivered, Arrakis will find a box upon his doorstep wrapped in silver paper and topped with a blue bow. Inside is a feather pen, a bottle of ink, and a blank leather journal along with a note. )
Arrakis,
I am not familiar with Christmas, but upon asking around town I have learned of the traditions associated and have come to you with these gifts. I hope they are to your liking and Merry Christmas to you as well.
Yours, - Raina Wraithblade
I know you dropped Raina but I had to let you know I loved her gift!
[Not one to ever be outdone by anyone (because everything's a competition with this guy), Katsuki immediately goes to try and find something to gift back to Arrakis...though he's definitely pressed for time, and has no fucking clue what the guy might like. Or where he even lives, for that matter. The latter isn't too damning, he can forward the gift to the mail mice and have them deliver it, but...ough. What in the seven hells is he going to get this peaco--wait.
He doesn't know shit about these things aside from the basic gist, but it looks nice, right? Anyway, delicately wrapped in colorful tissue paper so as not to get squished, and placed in a gift bag away from where it could get wet or damaged, Arrakis will find a very elaborate dreamcatcher made with peacock feathers. H-He tried, okay? APPRECIATE THE ATTEMPT!!1 Next to that will be a plastic gift bag filled with expertly made chocolate truffles and some holiday cookies, which will taste like a little slice of heaven. Katsuki is an expert at cooking and baking.
There's no card, or note, or anything, just a little gift tag that indicates it's from the young blond. Merry Christmas, ya dirty bird.]
[Little did Katsuki know, Arrakis always had nightmares so he appreciated his attempt more than he would ever know. It really was perfect. Thanks. Also Katsuki should never have let him taste his amazing cooking. Now that Arrakis has had a taste he will never escape!]
[ Around the time presents start showing up, Arrakis will also find a bouquet of flowers set in front of his door in a matching vase. The flowers are all protea flowers in varying colours, and there's a note attached to the vase. ]
Dear Arrakis,
I hope I am doing this right. Truthfully, it is my first time celebrating these holidays. I would not even have known they were happening if not for people speaking of it here, not to mention your own very kind gift. Still, I hope you enjoy this small present in return.
Did you know that flowers can be used to say something? They call it flower language where I come from. My mother really liked it. These ones in particular stand for strength, since you have to be one of the bravest people I have ever met.
.. and perhaps also one of the most reckless.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy both your gift and the holidays.
[The flowers are beautiful, especially when they were a gift from a friend, and learning about the flower language was interesting! He couldn't help but laugh at the reckless comment and he sent Inigo a message thanking him for the gift and inviting him to play chess sometime.]
[Arrakis always liked hearing from Night Sky, although something about her tone sounded a bit different. He hid his hint of unease behind a curious tone.]
Sure! You know I would never say no to your company.
[He suspected the Doctor would ask about this sooner or later. Even with him sneaking up the roof every night so he wasn't a bother to anyone he knew he couldn't hide it forever. Night Sky had been asking about his nightmares too and he was tempted to run away from the question like he always did, but something stopped him.]
Once upon a midnight dream, while you opened your oracle so weary... This message came to be! 😱 And now, you’ve been CURSED!! It's real curse magic! 😈💀
If you don’t send this to 10 people within the next 6 minutes, you’ll wake up to these horrors:
1. Your phone screen will mysteriously crack... 📱💔 2. A pixie will rearrange your furniture in the middle of the night 🛋️🧚 (and you’ll fall on your face) 3. The shard magic you collected will go to 0... and you'll have to start all over again 💎😱 4. You’ll lose your abilities you regained one by one 🔮😳 5. Vaeros will come into your nightmares and force you to date him... 😘💋 6. But if you do send it... nothing creepy will happen 👀 …maybe… 🕷️
[Once they were in the cottage, which had been cleaned up and somewhat reorganized, Loki made sure Arrakis was settled warmly in the main room. Not far from the little library and the chess area. Tea was almost always available easily now in the cottage, moreso than even when Alice had lived there. So it wasn't long before Loki was bringing out a tray with a pot and two cups, and honey. Along with small pastries of some kind. Setting that on a side table nearby.
He hadn't asked for his coat back, and he still didn't. But he held out both hands and his fingers twitched as he conjured a green quilt, offering that to Arrakis too. Only then did Loki take a seat of his own, preparing his cup of tea and settling in.]
You're probably expecting my scorn for giving your gifts. I am annoyed, but not at you. So long as you thought about it, and didn't let yourself be manipulated, then I'm not going to be annoyed at you.
[Arrakis had been to the cottage many times before when Alice was still here but without his magic it was like he was experiencing it for the first time. All with small sounds and smells that felt muted before felt new and Arrakis took his time to commit the changes to memory. He clung to Loki's coat as he did so, wanting to remember his comforting warmth as well.
Loki interrupted his thoughts but it was a welcoming distraction. He was instantly drawn to the pastries that Loki brought but he was still cold and he gladly accept the tea first. He was surprised when Loki wrapped him in a quilt as well. He was tempted to tease him that he was going to roast under all of the heat but the truth was he couldn't completely escape the chill that seemed to seep into his bones. His loneliness seemed to feed on the cold and Arrakis pulled the quilt closer to him as he took a sip of tea.
It was still a bit too hot for his sharpened senses and Arrakis flinched with a small hum. His frustration spilled over in a sigh after Loki spoke.]
I did think about it.
[He had agonized over his choice and he was annoyed that Loki implied that he would have taken such a difficult choice so lightly. He didn't want to argue anymore though and his anger softened as he fiddled with his cup as he waited for it to cool.]
I knew it was a dangerous gamble but I couldn't risk being wrong and having done nothing to stop this world from falling apart...Not this time.
[What hurt even more than losing his magic was that even with his sacrifice he wasn't able to stop anything again and he gripped his cup tighter.]

😱 What a frightful surprise! You wound me anon.💔
Before I decide whether to agree to your terms or not I have a question. Don't curses get stronger when you share it with more people? 🤔
Maybe that's your evil scheme all along.
